Improve your camera skills: We will demystify digital exposure modes and other camera settings, so you know why, when, and how to use them.
We’ll survey key aspects of composition that are essential for gaining balance, strength, and depth in your images, also we’ll review successful practices that bring uniqueness to your work. Learn the mechanics and gain insight into the judging process when submitting to juried art shows. Be prepared to walk the immediate surrounding area or indoors for practice shooting followed by group critique. ![]() Award-winning photographer /graphic artist Richard Mulcahy has a BA in Fine Arts from Bridgewater State College with combined study at Mass College of Art & Design in the Back Bay of Boston. Richard also earned an MBA with honors from Sawyer Business School/Suffolk University on Boston's Beacon Hill. Richard also completed a Masters Certification Program in Project Management from George Washington University, Washington D.C..
Richard began his career in Publishing & Photography, working for Clark-Franklin-Kingston Press in Boston MA, later at South Shore Publishing in Scituate MA while working as a free lance photographer south of Boston. At that time, the infiltration of technology within the graphics & publishing industry led Richard to the field of Information Technology (I/T) & Software Engineering. Richard attributes his successes in I/T directly to his photography and graphic arts experiences, exposing him to corporate environments of rapid continuous change and high demand for strong creative and analytical skills. Today, Richard is a digital photography instructor and exhibiting artist at Plymouth Center for the Arts. He is a three term past President of the Guild. and has held every officer role over the past decade. He is credited as being the architect of the Guild’s major annual photography exhibit: ‘The Fine Art of Photography’. Richard has appeared on The Artist’s World / PAC TV, and also on Chronicle / WCVB segment featuring the Art Center. Richard is a recipient of Plymouth’s Project Arts ‘Arty Award’. Richard’s work has been published in the Boston Globe, South Shore Living, Plymouth's Old Colony Memorial, in many Boston south newspapers, in corporate journals, and on the web. Richard has exhibited his work in local South Shore venues, group shows at the public library, the Senate Chambers of the Massachusetts State House, and has work in the permanent collection at Plymouth's new Town Hall. Past photography & Art Show (all media) Judging includes the Garden Club Federation SE Mass - 'Botanical Arts Photography' at the Heritage Museum in Sandwich, MA, Quincy Marina Bay - 'Arts Affair', Massasoit Community College Annual Arts Fest at Akillian Gallery, Pembroke Arts Festival , Quincy Art Festival, South Shore Camera Club Photography Competition, Bourn-Wareham Art Association, Plymouth Public Library’s Annual Juried Arts and Crafts Festival, QArts-Quincy Art Association, and The 2024 Congressional Youth Art Competition (9th District, Massachusetts). |
